In between places web design project

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

“If we opened our minds to enjoyment,…we might sit with the fairies who wait on every flower.” ~Samuel Smiles

THE IN-BETWEEN PLACES…are those nooks and crannies of the imagination that are forgotten with age; where once upon an enchanted evening in the mind of a child, fireflies will dance, elves and fairies will frolic, the Lost Boys of Neverland will gambol about…and wishes will come true…

This is our first mock up for In Between Place website. I had a lot of fun designing this fantasy driven website. - more mock ups to come very soon - enjoy I know I did:

Flowerpot Designs

Friday, August 17th, 2007

handmade-hair-clips-and-accessories-for-babies-and-kids-flowerpot-designs.jpgThis website selling a collection of handmade hairclips and accessories turned out so modern, feminine and earthy.

Nothing gets women looking like pictures of kids – especially if they have kids already! Targeted marketing for sure :-)

We also loved how the banner turned out – it was such a contrast to the rest of the page, with the pastel pinks, purples and yellows down below and on the sides – but turned out so well. The stitched and fabric look is a favorite of mine – I use it in my personal artwork quite often, and it creates a beautiful background in this particular case. I also think the brown color saves the site from being sickeningly sweet and girly – and makes it more of an earth mother feel. After all, sweet and girly is the last thing that mums of young children feel like! Gotta have something to relate to :-). We used shadowing to create layers in the design, lifting the page and making it seem more than a flat screen (or a slightly curved screen if you haven’t yet upgraded!)

Of course, it is a bit easier to make a great website when you have such an inspiring product range. As one of my personal fetishes, I appreciate the feel and texture of hand knitting and funky fabrics, and I think we incorporated them well into the design. The flower motif is also integrated as a part of the basis of the site, without being overwhelming.

Industrial 3D

Creating the portfolio website for Industrial 3d was an interesting task. The website had to be simple and technical, to showcase their illustration and animation work in the best way possible. Industrial 3D team is a unique blend of illustrators, artists, designers and animators with extensive experience which focuses mainly on the oil, gas, petroleum, energy and mechanical industries. Check out their amazing work at: www.Industrial3d.com

Look and feel of the portfolio website

Zee, who is a visual person, stands behind the professional image development. Zee and Simon agreed that their website had to be original and fun - neither of them like boring corporate websites. Zee developed all the illustrations and graphics for ZEEDESIGNSTUDIOS.com.

An artwork site needs as much simplicity and streamlining as possible, to let the works speak for themselves. Bernie preferred lighter colors to complement the content, and loved the simple design.
