As Simple As That ® offers children’s programming that celebrates diversity and promotes tolerance in all walks of life. As Simple As That ® gives children a view of people and traditions from around the world. Decades of research has determined that early exposure to diverse people and cultures makes children less likely to be biased and engage in bullying behavior. With award-winning books like Dumplings are Delicious, Families are Forever, and Tooth Fairy Tales, children learn to appreciate the things that are unique to other people.

We created WordPress template for this client, with CMS functions. Here is screenshot of the contact form; to check out the rest of the site go to: http://blog.globalbirthdayparty.com/

Bo’s Birthday Party Illustrations

Meet BO:

Bo inspires wonder, excitement and imagination in his friends. His personality is colorful, confident and vibrant. He wins the attention and support of all around him with great ease. They trust him unerringly. Bo participates actively in life, engaging his heart and mind fully with everything that seizes his attention—like Rain. Bo is blessed with good luck, great energy and unflagging optimism.<!–[if !supportEmptyParas]–> <!–[endif]–>Bo and Rain became a family in China. Rain knew from the first moment she saw him that he was special and Bo felt the same way about Rain. This dynamic team has a lot of things to do and see and will touch a lot of people along the way.

I also created illustrations of Bo’s friends. I used a collage technique, mixing the textures and materials to give the image depth.

This is Carlos:

Carlos is fascinated by how things work. He is always taking things apart and putting them back together. He dreams of being an architect-or an ant hill farmer. He likes to think that the big parade held every year on March 17th is for his birthday and not St. Patrick’s Day. He is very funny and his friends find themselves laughing whenever he is around.

Katarina was born on June 12th in Russia and emigrated to the United States with her parents and grandparents when she was three.

At seven, Katarina is the most soulful and thoughtful of this band of friends. Her name means “peace” in Arabic, and that truly describes her personality.

Naomi was born on September 22nd, she has delicate features and beautiful brown skin. She is shy and reserved, but very insightful. Naomi is the youngest of five children.

The Naomi illustration is my personal favorite.

Rain is a five-year old girl who joined her family when she was adopted from China as a baby.

Flowerpot Designs

Friday, August 17th, 2007

handmade-hair-clips-and-accessories-for-babies-and-kids-flowerpot-designs.jpgThis website selling a collection of handmade hairclips and accessories turned out so modern, feminine and earthy.

Nothing gets women looking like pictures of kids – especially if they have kids already! Targeted marketing for sure :-)

We also loved how the banner turned out – it was such a contrast to the rest of the page, with the pastel pinks, purples and yellows down below and on the sides – but turned out so well. The stitched and fabric look is a favorite of mine – I use it in my personal artwork quite often, and it creates a beautiful background in this particular case. I also think the brown color saves the site from being sickeningly sweet and girly – and makes it more of an earth mother feel. After all, sweet and girly is the last thing that mums of young children feel like! Gotta have something to relate to :-). We used shadowing to create layers in the design, lifting the page and making it seem more than a flat screen (or a slightly curved screen if you haven’t yet upgraded!)

Of course, it is a bit easier to make a great website when you have such an inspiring product range. As one of my personal fetishes, I appreciate the feel and texture of hand knitting and funky fabrics, and I think we incorporated them well into the design. The flower motif is also integrated as a part of the basis of the site, without being overwhelming.

Website for Traveler

Wednesday, August 8th, 2007

JOB DESCRIPTION:

janets-travel-calendar.jpgI want a fresh, clean, classy design that has a lot of white space, using purple and one other color (light green, yellow, navy?). I’d like a header with a unique image, maybe something like a cartoon-ish brunette 40-something female in a travel setting. Descriptions that come to mind are jet-setter, world traveler, adventure, etc.

I want to make sure that each page has the meta tags that keep the pages from being indexed in search engines. I don’t want to put a password on the site, but I don’t want outsiders to be able to find it in a search engine.

janets-travel-photos.jpg

This MUST be your own unique, original design. I don’t want something very similar to what I could have downloaded somewhere. It must be a cut above all those.”

This is also a rush job.

On seeing the final design, this is what client said:

“They did a super job of designing my website and making it functional to my specifications. Would not hesitate to hire them again - they obviously care about the quality of their work product and customer satisfaction. Communication was always prompt and clear. Overall extremely satisfied.”

Flora needed a one-of-a-kind website, in a whimsical style. Just as each little angel is unique, each hair clip she makes is unique, because it is handmade. We made sure that her website matches the amazing style of her children’s hair accessories collection. Enjoy!
